Civan Canova was born on June 28, 1955 in Ankara. His father is Mahir Canova, a theater director. After graduating from Canova Primary School, he graduated from TED Ankara College in 1973 as he was boarding from secondary school. He won the Department of Economics in Ankara University in 1973, but he left school 2 months later. In 1974, he started to study in the theater department of Ankara State Conservatory. In the same year, he started his career by playing in Yilmaz Guney's "Friend" film. He graduated from the Conservatory Theater Department in 1978 and started to work at Istanbul State Theaters. In 1981, he worked for 4 months in Burdur.
