Mehmet Ulay was born in 1947 in Alanya district of Antalya. Graduated from Istanbul Kabatas High School, the artist started to work in the State Theaters in 1963. Mehmet Ulay, who was in Ankara Art Theater in 1965, went to England in 1969 and worked at the Oldwick Theater. When he returned to Turkey after 2 years, he worked as the director, acting and assistant director at Ankara Art Theater again.
